Creating Fundraising Goals
Why Set Fundraising Goals?
Clear fundraising goals give supporters something tangible to rally around. Goals create urgency, motivate giving, and show progress toward your mission needs.
Types of Goals
Monthly Support Goal
Set a recurring monthly target for ongoing ministry expenses. Example: "$5,000/month for living expenses and ministry costs."
Annual Goal
Larger yearly target for total support needed. Example: "$60,000/year for full ministry funding."
Project Goal
One-time goal for specific projects. Example: "$10,000 for missions trip to Kenya."
How to Set Your Goal
Step 1: Calculate Your Needs
Be realistic about what you need:
- Living expenses
- Ministry costs
- Insurance and benefits
- Travel and equipment
- Emergency fund buffer
Step 2: Set in Dashboard
Go to Dashboard → Settings → Goals
- Enter goal amount
- Choose monthly or annual
- Write compelling goal description
- Set start date (optional)
- Choose whether to display publicly
Step 3: Customize Progress Display
Control how your goal appears:
- Show Progress Bar: Visual indicator of completion
- Display Percentage: "75% funded"
- Show Amount: "$3,750 of $5,000"
- Hide Goal: Track privately without public display
Goal Messaging Tips
Be Specific
Instead of "Help support my ministry," try "Raise $5,000/month to serve 100 students on campus."
Share the Why
Explain what the funds enable. "This support allows me to provide free meals and mentorship to college students."
Create Urgency
Add time elements. "By September, I need $4,000/month to stay on the field."
Updating Your Goal
As your needs change:
- Adjust goal amount in settings
- Announce changes to supporters
- Explain why needs increased/decreased
- Celebrate when goals are reached!
Goal Examples
- Church Planter: "$8,000/month for salary, building rent, and ministry programs"
- Overseas Missionary: "$6,500/month for living expenses, language learning, and local partnerships"
- Campus Minister: "$4,000/month to provide free meals and discipleship to 75 students"
Remember: Goals should be both realistic and faith-stretching. Trust God while being wise with numbers.
